About Le Domaine
From the sugar shack to the tubing slides
1955
Construction and opening of the Arthur Raymond Sugar Shack. Maple syrup in a pot using ancestral methods.
1957
Expansion of the suger shack to host dance parties and private events.
1964
Arthur Raymond founded Pente des Pays d’en Haut, now known as Les Glissades du Domaine des Pays d’en Haut. In its early days, the business offered wild tobogganing with two runs and a bow lift. It had about ten employees and accomodated its customers with a cafeteria.
1968
The beginning of evening sliding on lit-up trails.
1971
A new building to accomofate even more people.
1974
Maple syrup production using tubing.
1975
Expansion of La Cabane’s kitchen and the additions of a new boiling room.
1979
Arthur Raymond passes the torch to his two sons: Constant and Mercier.
First technological shift
1984
The wild toboggan, too rigid and difficult to control, is replaced by tubing.
1987
First slopes with curves, which quickly became the company's specialty thanks to cutting-edge technology. A well-kept secret to this day!
1988
Installation of a snow cannon system.
1989
Construction of the main chalet.
1990
Installation of the double chairlift.
New slopes and name change
1993
Development of a second tier of slopes, the highest at the center, reaching 80 meters in height.
1995
New slope dedicated to Snow Rafting. It has its own lift that pulls you to the top of the mountain while seated in the rafting canoe.
1996
The children buy back the sugar shack from their grandparents to continue the family tradition.
2000
Launch of the Helicopter at Le Domaine.
2001
Addition of the Tornado ride to the rafting slope.
2003
Installation of the first magic carpet to significantly reduce wait times and make the lift more accessible to everyone.
2004
The theatre comes to life under the name Chapiteau Saint-Sauveur.
Installation of the second magic carpet, following the success of the first, and the removal of the bow lift.
Construction of a 10,000-square-foot room attached to the main chalet, capable of seating approximately 900 people.
2006
Pente des Pays d’en Haut changes its name to Les Glissades des Pays d’en Haut, and major renovations take place at the log sugar shack.
The children take over
2008
Julie and Nicolas Raymond take over the business from their father, Mercier Raymond.
2009
The Yeti Park, a new area with 12 mini slopes dedicated to school groups, is inaugurated. The center's mascot is unveiled: Yétubo the Yeti.
2010
New path to the sugar shack.
2012
Introduction of new molded plastic rafting and Tornado boats, offering more comfort and speed. A unique innovation at Les Glissades des Pays d’en Haut. Significant investment in the artificial snowmaking system.
Les Glissades celebrates its 50th anniversary
2013
Celebration of the 50th anniversary. Lighting of the rafting and Tornado slopes. Improvement of the restaurant menus with a focus on healthy options. The company stands out primarily for its customer service, emphasizing human connection and flexibility, as well as its cutting-edge technology that allows it to offer an experience that is both safe and emotionally intense.
2015
New Snow Bobsleigh slope with 3 tracks and a one-of-a-kind lift.
2017
Revival of the old Piedmont Waterfall faucet on our Tube slope. Improvement of our parking spaces.
2018
Inauguration of the Vortex360 with 3 new tracks. Major investment in our artificial snowmaking system. The addition of several snow cannons will significantly increase the snowmaking capacity of our center, and do so more quickly.
2019
Celebration of the 55th anniversary of Les Glissades. New tube depot closer to the chalet. Major renovations of our restrooms.
Le Domaine becomes a must-visit in the Laurentians
2020
Les Glissades des Pays d’en Haut site changes its name. Now called Le Domaine des Pays d’en Haut, the must-visit destination for fun in the Laurentians includes: Les Glissades, Le Theatre, La Cabane Arthur Raymond, and L'Helicopter, all attractions within Le Domaine spanning several square kilometers.
2021
A new image and new concept under the umbrella of Domaine des Pays d’en Haut, still owned by the Raymond family.
2023
Major investment in improving artificial snowmaking: new acquisitions of state-of-the-art snow cannons and two next-generation snow groomers. Construction of a brand-new dome covering the magic carpets on the Tube slope to enhance the ascent for sliders.
